With no doubt the best holiday I've ever been to was a trip to Galapagos islands.
Isabela Island |
It was in 2016, and I went with my son, who, at the time, was only 8 years old. Therefore, I was a little insecure if he could do all the tours and activities, but he did them and made me really proud. I realized that he is much braver than I thought.
Galapagos from the air |
Galapagos has a different adventure for each day, there are so many activities and incredible places that you can't make it all in one trip, for sure (we only stay in two islands). For some places you have to take a tour, and they are a little expensive. Even so, it's worth it... they leave the port very early, and they give you breakfast and lunch in the boat (so delicious), and take you to beautiful places between mangroves and ocean, white sand beaches and nature.
In Galapagos they take nature care very seriously, so, all places seem to be virgin. You can´t touch a thing or take with you even a little seashell.
In the same spot we could swim amongs sharks. I always thought that would be a scary experience, but it wasn't. You feel safe and very peacefully.
We did the tour with other people and at the end, a lady said to me "you're a good mom" (in English). I smile every time I remerber that.
This is only one of the things we did there. I haven´t mentioned the food, the people, the giant tourtles, the stories, etc. etc...
I think Galapagos is a place where they have learned how to balance tourism (their principal economic activity) and respect for nature, in the last decades (because a taxi driver told me that they used to cook a delicious turtle soup, haha).
At the end of the trip we became very much closer <3...
